What happened today 🇺🇸,

  • The U.S. government shutdown has now entered its 36th day, making it the longest government shutdown in American history

  • The results from yesterday’s elections are in and New Jersey has elected Democrat Mikie Sherrill as their new governor, Virginia has elected Democrat Abigail Spanberger as their new governor, and NYC has elected the Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani as mayor

  • The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced it will reduce flight capacity by 10% at 40 major U.S. airports starting Friday morning due to staffing shortages caused by the ongoing government shutdown

  • California voters have approved Proposition 50, a ballot measure allowing the Democratic-controlled state legislature to redraw congressional district maps that favor Democrats…California Republicans have already sued in an attempt to block the new congressional maps

  • The Department of Homeland Security has ended Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for South Sudanese nationals, a designation that provided protections from deportation and work authorization for over a decade due to South Sudan’s civil war and humanitarian crises…the TPS designation officially expired on November 3rd and South Sudanese nationals currently living in the U.S. have a 60-day grace period to either depart or face deportation starting in early January 2026

  • Apple is finalizing a deal to pay Google roughly $1 billion annually for a custom version of Google’s Gemini AI model to power the next-generation Siri voice assistant that is planned for launch in 2026

  • Unionized Starbucks workers, represented by Starbucks Workers United, are preparing to strike in over 25 U.S. cities on November 13th, targeting the company’s popular Red Cup Day as part of a pressure campaign to secure a contract after stalled negotiations

  • Toyota has announced multiple recalls affecting over 1 million vehicles in the U.S. due to safety issues, primarily linked to malfunctioning rearview cameras..the recall covers various 2022 to 2026 models of Toyota, Lexus, and Subaru Solterra vehicles equipped with Panoramic View Monitor systems

  • According to the ADP National Employment Report, in October U.S. private sector employment increased by 42,000 jobs, marking the first gain since July

  • DOW up .48% / S&P up .37%

  • Mexico’s President, Claudia Sheinbaum, was groped and harassed by a drunk man on the street near the presidential palace while greeting the public, an incident that was captured on video and went viral…Sheinbaum promptly filed criminal charges against the man and he has been arrested
