What happened today 🇺🇸,

  • A major Verizon outage struck the U.S. around 1pm ET, affecting over 170,000 users with "SOS" mode, dropped calls, texts, and data, while also disrupting some connections for T-Mobile and AT&T customers trying to reach Verizon users…at the time of writing this the outage is still going on and Verizon is working to resolve the issue

  • The U.S. State Department said it will pause all visa processing for nationals from 75 countries starting January 21st…some of the countries impacted includes Somalia, Russia, Afghanistan, Brazil, Iran, Iraq, Egypt, Nigeria, Thailand, and Yemen

  • The Supreme Court did not issue its highly anticipated ruling on the legality of President Trump's tariffs today, despite expectations of the ruling being issued at 10am ET…this marks the second time the ruling was not released when it was expected to be

  • NBC News reported that the estimated cost of acquiring Greenland could be between $500 billion and $700 billion based on analyses by scholars and former officials

  • A federal court upheld California's new voter-approved congressional maps, rejecting Republicans challenge alleging racial gerrymandering…Republicans plan to appeal to the Supreme Court
