  • Larry Ellison has surpassed Elon Musk as the world's richest person for the first time ever, driven by a surge in Oracle's stock price that rose over 40% in a single day…Ellison's net worth increased by about $101 billion to approximately $393 billion, overtaking Musk whose net worth is valued at around $385 billion

  • Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist and co-founder of Turning Point USA, was shot and killed during an outdoor event at Utah Valley University…the suspected shooter has been taken into custody

  • Three former high-ranking FBI officials have filed a federal lawsuit against FBI Director Kash Patel and Attorney General Pam Bondi, the lawsuit alleges that Patel fired them as part of a "campaign of retribution" to appease President Trump

  • The U.S. Department of Labor's internal watchdog, the Office of Inspector General, has launched an investigation into the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) to review the challenges it is facing in data collection…read more here

  • Federal judge, Jia Cobbhas, has temporarily blocked President Trump from firing Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook, ruling that Cook must be reinstated while her lawsuit against the attempted firing proceeds…the Trump administration has already filed to appeal the judge's order

  • Uber announced plans to launch helicopter rides integrated into its app as early as 2026, initially focusing on routes around New York City and parts of Southern Europe

  • Amazon is developing consumer-focused augmented-reality (AR) glasses, internally codenamed "Jayhawk," and they are expected to launch in late 2026 or early 2027…these glasses will feature microphones, speakers, a camera, and a full-color display in one eye, designed to compete directly with Meta's AR glasses

  • Oracle and OpenAI have signed a $300 billion cloud computing deal spanning approximately five years and will start in 2027

  • Novo Nordisk, the maker of Ozempic and Wegovy, announced it will cut approximately 9,000 jobs which is about 11.5% of its global workforce by the end of 2026

  • August PPI inflation came in at 2.6% year over year below the expectations of 3.3%, Core PPI inflation came in at 2.8% year over year below the expectations of 3.5%
