Ukraine agrees to U.S.-led ceasefire plan if Russia accepts

The agreement came after more than seven hours of negotiations in Saudi Arabia between high-level American and Ukrainian delegations.

  • U.S. and Ukrainian officials held talks today in Saudi Arabia…Ukraine has agreed to an immediate 30-day ceasefire if Russia agrees to the plan, the U.S. will now lift the pause on intelligence sharing and restart security assistance to Ukraine

  • A wild day in the trade war, Trump announced an additional 25% tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum, raising total tariffs to 50%, in response to Ontario’s 25% electricity surcharge on three U.S. states.   • The House of Representatives passed a spending bill to fund the government for the next six months, it now moves to the Senate where it will need at least seven Democrats to vote in favor of the bill in order to avert a government shutdown on Friday

  • The Department of Education announced today it will be firing nearly 50% of its more than 4000 person workforce

  • Southwest Airlines will begin charging passengers to check bags for the first time, Southwest will begin charging on May 28th and has not yet said how much the checked bags will cost

  • Elon Musk has seen his net worth decline $145 billion since Trump's inauguration, per Bloomberg

  • General Mills is launching its own ramen noodles with Old El Paso and Totino's, there will be four flavors which include Old El Paso - Fajita, Old El Paso - Beef Birria, Totino's - Cheese Pizza, Totino's - Buffalo Chicken Pizza and they will be available for purchase in April

  • The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics released its JOLTs job openings data today and it reported there are 7.74 million job openings in the U.S., above the expectations of 7.6 million

  • DOW down 1.14% / S&P down .76%

  • Pope Francis is out of “imminent danger” from pneumonia and his health continues to improve, there is no timeline for when he will be released from the hospital and he will remain there to continue treatment for the next several days

  • Ukraine launched its biggest drone attack since the start of the war on Moscow, targeting the Russian capital and other regions…this came before the meeting between U.S. and Ukrainian officials
