What happened today 🇺🇸,
At Apple’s event today the company announced a suite of new products including the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, Pro Max, and a new ultra-thin iPhone Air…they also unveiled updates to three Apple Watch models (Series 11, SE 3, and Ultra 3) featuring new health capabilities and improved battery life, along with the AirPods Pro 3 which include upgraded sound and health monitoring features…all new devices will be available for pre-order starting September 12th and will ship and appear in stores on September 19th
The Supreme Court has agreed to expedite the review of President Trump's tariffs case, scheduling oral arguments for early November…the case will assess the legality of Trump's use of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) to impose sweeping tariffs on imports from multiple countries
President Trump signed a memorandum aimed at cracking down on direct-to-consumer prescription drug advertisements without attempting to institute an outright ban… the memorandum directs the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to enhance transparency and accuracy in drug advertising by requiring more detailed disclosures of product risks, especially in ads across TV and social media platforms
Democratic Texas state Representative, James Talarico, announced he is running for the U.S. Senate and will enter a competitive Democratic primary for the seat that is currently held by Republican John Cornyn
The latest Nation's Report Card, based on the 2024 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), showed significant declines in U.S. student performance in math, reading, and science with 12th graders scoring the lowest in reading and math in decades and 8th graders experiencing notable drops in science performance…nearly half of high school seniors scored below the basic proficiency level in math and reading which continues a downward trend…read more here
The U.S. added approximately 911,000 fewer jobs than originally reported from April 2024 to March 2025, according to a preliminary revision by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, this downward adjustment indicates a significantly weaker labor market than previously believed with job growth roughly half of initial estimates…read more here
Maryland Governor, Wes Moore, officially announced his bid for reelection in 2026…while frequently asked about a potential 2028 presidential run, Moore stated that he is focused on serving a full second term as governor
Microsoft has announced employees must return to the office at least three days per week starting early next year, the policy will initially begin with Microsoft staff near its Redmond, Washington headquarters and will then move across the country

Israel carried out an airstrike targeting Hamas leaders in Doha, Qatar marking the first Israeli strike inside Qatar…the attack occurred while Hamas leaders were meeting to discuss a U.S. ceasefire proposal, with Israel stating the strike targeted those responsible for the October 7th attacks and ongoing hostilities, Qatar condemned the strike as a "criminal assault" and violation of international law
French President Macron has appointed Sébastien Lecornu, the outgoing defense minister and a close ally, as the new Prime Minister of France
