• ICE has begun purchasing large warehouses across the U.S. as part of a $45 billion plan to convert up to 23 facilities nationwide into immigrant detention centers

• A federal judge ruled on that Luigi Mangione will not face the death penalty in his federal case for the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson

• OpenAI is preparing for a possible IPO in the fourth quarter of 2026, as they are trying to get to public markets before rival Anthropic

• Eli Lilly announced a $3.5 billion investment to build a new manufacturing facility in Pennsylvania's Lehigh Valley for injectable obesity drugs, marking their fourth major U.S. site expansion

• Peloton announced that it is cutting 11% of its global workforce, primarily engineers on tech and enterprise projects, as part of CEO Peter Stern's ongoing cost-reduction efforts

• December PPI inflation came in at 3.0% year over year, above the expectations of 2.7%…Core PPI inflation came in at 3.3% year over year, above the expectations of 2.9%

• DOW down .36% / S&P down .43%

• Iran's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, announced readiness to resume nuclear talks with the U.S. during a press conference, as long as Trump halts military threats amid a U.S. "armada" buildup…also senior U.S. military officials have reportedly informed the leadership of a key U.S. ally in the Middle East that President Trump could authorize a U.S. attack on Iran as early as this weekend
