🗞️Trump announces ceasefire agreement with Iran and Israel

What happened today 🇺🇸,

• Over the weekend the U.S. bombed three of Iran’s nuclear facilities, since then the U.S. has issued a “worldwide caution” alert for Americans traveling abroad and Iran launched retaliatory missile attacks targeting a U.S. military base in Qatar, the missile attacks was intercepted and resulted in no reported injuries…later in the night around 6pm EST President Trump announced a “complete and total ceasefire” and the war involving Israel, the U.S. and Iran has seemingly come to an end

• Abortion rates in the U.S. continued to rise in 2024, reaching approximately 1.14 million procedures, up from 1.06 million in 2023, despite widespread state bans and restrictions following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade…the increase was driven largely by greater use of medication abortion and telehealth services, which now account for about one in four abortions

• New York Governor, Kathy Hochul, announced that the state will build its first new nuclear power plant in decades, directing the New York Power Authority to develop an advanced and zero-emission facility in upstate New York

• The Supreme Court has allowed the Trump administration to deport migrants to third countries where they have no prior ties, temporarily suspending a lower court's requirement that migrants be given a meaningful opportunity to contest their removal…read more here

• The U.S. House of Representatives has banned the use of WhatsApp on all government-issued devices for staffers, citing cybersecurity concerns

• President Trump has launched a super PAC called "Kentucky MAGA" with the goal of unseating Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) in the 2026 Republican primary

• Health insurers in the U.S., including major companies like UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Cigna, and Humana, have announced a major initiative to simplify and reduce the pre-approval process for medical treatments, hospital admissions, and medications…insurers have pledged to accelerate decision timelines, enhance transparency, and reduce the number of services requiring pre-approval

• Kroger announced it will close approximately 60 stores across the U.S. over the next 18 months, as part of a strategy to improve efficiency and reinvest savings into customer experience

• Trump Media & Technology Group, the parent company of Truth Social, announced that its board has approved a $400 million stock buyback program

• U.S. existing-home sales rose by 0.8% in May compared to April, reaching a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4.03 million, but remained 0.7% lower than in May 2024…the median existing-home price hit a record $422,800, up 1.3% from last year

• DOW up .89% / S&P up .96%
