• Nancy Pelosi, the first woman to serve as Speaker of the House of Representatives, announced that she will retire from Congress at the end of her current term which ends January 3rd, 2027…Pelosi is 85 years old

• President Trump announced a deal with pharmaceutical companies Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk to lower the prices of their popular weight loss drugs, including Ozempic, Wegovy, Zepbound, and others…the agreement will reduce monthly costs from as high as $1,350 down to between $149 and $350 per month depending on dosage and insurance coverage, with eligible Medicare and Medicaid patients benefiting from lower prices…the new pricing will be available through a planned TrumpRx pharmaceutical website and is expected to begin rolling out as early as January 2026

• The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) officially announced it will reduce flight capacity by 10% at 40 major U.S. airports starting Friday due to staffing shortages and fatigue among air traffic controllers working without pay amid the ongoing government shutdown…view the airports that will be impacted here

• Federal judge, John J. McConnell Jr., has ordered the Trump administration to fully fund the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits for the month of November by Friday

• OpenAI initially suggested it might seek U.S. government loan guarantees to help finance its massive $1 trillion-plus AI infrastructure expansion with OpenAI CFO Sarah Friar mentioning the possibility of a "backstop" or guarantee that could lower financing costs and increase borrowing capacity…However, CEO Sam Altman quickly clarified that OpenAI does not want government guarantees or bailouts for its data centers, emphasizing that bad business decisions should be resolved by the market, not taxpayers

• ESPN has signed a multi-year exclusive agreement with DraftKings to become its official sportsbook and odds provider, starting December 1st

• Peloton is recalling approximately 833,000 of its original Bike+ model due to a defective seat post issue that caused the seat post to detach or break during use, leading to two reported injuries

• Tesla shareholders have approved CEO Elon Musk's $1 trillion pay package with more than 75% voting in favor during the company's annual meeting in Austin, Texas

• In October U.S. job cuts totaled 153,074, representing a 183% increase from September and 175% higher than October 2024, this marked the highest level of job cuts for any October since 2003

• DOW down .84% / S&P down 1.12%

• Israeli jets carried out airstrikes on three towns in southern Lebanon on today, escalating their near-daily attacks despite warnings to residents to evacuate the area beforehand…the strikes targeted what the Israeli military described as Hezbollah infrastructure and positions, coming just hours after Hezbollah publicly urged the Lebanese government not to enter any negotiations with Israel
