Trump National Security Council Secretary staffers purged, U.S. officials say

One source said the firings come after Laura Loomer presented President Trump with opposition research on NSC staffers she views as neoconservatives or not sufficiently loyal to him.

  • President Trump has reportedly fired multiple members of his National Security Council, the names of the individuals have not been released yet

  • The acting Inspector General of the Defense Department will investigate Secretary of Defense Hegseth’s use of the Signal messaging app to discuss military strikes against the Houthis in Yemen

  • The U.S. Senate passed a bill in a 51-48 vote to repeal Trump’s tariffs on Canadian imports, with a few Republican Senators voting against Trump

  • Current NYC Mayor Eric Adams has announced he will run for reelection as an independent candidate, and will “forgo” the Democratic primary

  • President Trump's tariffs announced Wednesday extend to countries and territories across the world including the uninhabited Heard and McDonald Islands in the sub-Antarctic Indian Ocean, which have no residents and are occupied by penguins and seals  

  • The Senate has officially confirmed Dr. Mehmet Oz as head of the centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)

  • The automaker Stellantis is pausing production at factories in Mexico and Canada and is temporarily laying off about 900 employees that work at U.S. plants

  • The average rate on a 30-year fixed mortgage fell slightly to 6.64% from last week's 6.65%

  • U.S. jobless claims for the week ending March 29th came in at 219k, lower than the expectation of 225k

  • DOW down 3.98% / S&P down 4.84%

  • The European Union has announced that they are ready with "countermeasures" to President Trump's reciprocal tariffs
