What happened today 🇺🇸,

  • Google has rolled out new AI-powered shopping features to make holiday shopping easier and more interactive, the updates include an AI Mode in Search that lets users describe what they want in natural language and get smart, personalized product results, an agentic AI tool that can track price drops and automatically make purchases within a set budget, and an AI calling feature that contacts local stores to check availability and pricing, then summarizes the info for the user…all of these features are integrated into Google Search and the Gemini app

  • Late last night, the House of Representatives passed a bill to reopen the federal government after the longest shutdown in U.S. history, with a 222-209 vote…President Trump then signed the bill, ending the 43-day shutdown and restoring full government operations through January 30th, 2026

  • Senator, John Fetterman (D-PA), was hospitalized after falling near his home in Braddock, Pennsylvania…the fall was caused by a ventricular fibrillation flare-up that made him feel light-headed, leading to the fall where he sustained minor injuries to his face

  • Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, announced $10,000 bonuses for some Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agents who provided "exemplary service" by continuing to work without pay during the government shutdown

  • The Department of Justice has sued to block California’s new congressional district map, approved by voters through Proposition 50, arguing that it unlawfully uses race-based criteria to favor Hispanic voters

  • Polymarket has signed a multi-year deal with UFC, becoming its official and exclusive prediction market partner…the partnership will integrate Polymarket’s real-time prediction markets into UFC live events, broadcasts, social media, and in-arena activations, offering fans an interactive way to engage with fight outcomes

  • Starbucks Corporation unionized baristas launched a nationwide “Red Cup Rebellion” strike at over 65 stores across more than 40 U.S. cities…read more here

  • The Boeing Company defense workers union has accepted a new five-year contract agreement, ending their nearly three-month strike that began in August…the contract includes a 24% wage increase over the term of the deal, a $6,000 signing bonus, and improved benefits, with union members set to return to work on November 16th

  • Verizon is planning to cut approximately 15,000 jobs, or about 15% of its workforce, marking the largest layoffs in the company’s history

  • Foreclosure starts in the U.S. rose 6% in October compared to the previous month and were 20% higher than the same period last year, signaling increasing distress in the housing market

  • DOW down 1.65% / S&P down 1.66%

  • Israel is seeking to secure a new 20-year security agreement with the U.S., doubling the usual 10-year term and adding "America First" provisions that emphasize joint U.S.-Israel cooperation in defense technology and research to align with the Trump administration’s priorities
