What happened today 🇺🇸,

• The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is currently reviewing a proposal for a reality TV show called "The American," where immigrants would compete in various challenges across the U.S. for a chance to fast-track their path to citizenship, the concept is still in early vetting stages and has not been approved or endorsed by the DHS

• The U.S. Supreme Court ruled against the Trump administration’s attempt to deport Venezuelan nationals under the 1798 Alien Enemies Act, saying that the administration did not provide detainees with enough notice or resources to challenge their removal

• The Federal Reserve will reduce its workforce by about 10% which will be roughly 2,000 to 2,400 people over the next several years as part of an effort to streamline operations and modernize business practices

• Ten inmates escaped from the Orleans Parish Justice Center in New Orleans today by breaking through a wall behind a toilet…a full-scale search underway involving local, state, and federal law enforcement

• Moody’s, the credit rating agency, has downgraded the United States’ credit rating citing concerns over the increasing U.S. government debt

• Charter Communications and Cox Communications, two of the largest cable providers in the U.S., have agreed to $34.5 billion merger…the deal will create the country’s largest cable TV and broadband provider by subscribers

• YouTube will start using AI to place and run ads in videos when viewers are most engaged and after ‘peak’ moments occur

• A U.S. household now needs to earn $114,000 annually to afford a median-priced home, that’s up 70.1% from $67,000 just six years ago

• U.S. consumer sentiment (which is how consumers are feeling about the economy and their finances) fell in May, the index of consumer sentiment dropped to 50.8 down from 52.2 in April…that is the second-lowest reading on record behind June 2022…for more click here

• DOW up .78% / S&P up .70%

• Russian and Ukrainian delegations met in Istanbul for their first direct peace talks in over three years, but the meeting lasted less than two hours and ended without a ceasefire agreement…Russia reportedly made some overreaching demands about land control and the only concrete outcome was an agreement to exchange 1000 prisoners of war
