🗞️SCOTUS transgender ruling

What happened today 🇺🇸,

• The Supreme Court, in a 6-3 decision, upheld Tennessee’s law banning gender-affirming care/transgender surgeries for minors, rejecting arguments that the law violates the Constitution’s equal protection clause…this means states are allowed to ban medical treatments that help minors transition

• Today Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei warned the U.S. of "irreparable consequences" if it intervenes directly in the conflict, also President Trump has reportedly approved attack plans for Iran, but he is holding off on giving the final order to see if Iran will abandon its nuclear program…for live updates click here

• President Trump will sign another executive order giving TikTok another 90-day extension on the sale-or-ban deadline, this will be the third delay Trump has granted since taking office….this will keep TikTok available in the U.S. for now, as talks continue over selling the app to an American company, lawmakers from both parties have pushed for the sale citing national security concerns over TikTok’s Chinese ownership

• The Federal Reserve announced that interest rates will remain unchanged…this is the fourth straight meeting that the Fed has kept interest rates steady

• General Mills announced they will be removing artificial colors from their U.S. foods by the end of 2027

• Honda has recalled more than 259,000 vehicles in the U.S., including certain 2021-2025 Acura TLX, 2023-2025 Acura MDX, and 2023-2025 Honda Pilot models, due to a brake pedal defect

• Nippon Steel has finalized its $14.9 billion acquisition of U.S. Steel, with the company retaining its name and headquarters in Pittsburgh…the deal includes a national security agreement granting the U.S. government veto power over major company decisions and commits Nippon Steel to invest $11 billion in the U.S. by 2028

• Nike has delayed the launch of its NikeSKIMS activewear collection with Kim Kardashian’s brand due to internal production challenges

• Microsoft is planning to cut thousands of jobs, primarily in their sales division, as part of a broader effort to streamline its workforce and ramp up investments in AI, per Reuters

• U.S. initial jobless claims for the week ending June 14th fell by 5,000 from the previous week to 245,000 which was in-line with expectations

• DOW down .10% / S&P down .03%
