🗞️House passes Trump’s “big, beautiful bill”

What happened today 🇺🇸,

• The House of Representatives passed President Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill” on by a narrow 218-214 vote with only two House Republicans opposing it and no Democrats supporting it…the bill had already passed the Senate and is now headed to President Trump for his signature, the White House has said President Trump will sign the bill tomorrow at 5 PM ET

• House Democratic Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) set a new record for the longest speech in House history, speaking for 8 hours and 46 minutes to protest President Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill”, Jeffries began his speech at 4:53 a.m. and concluded at 1:38 p.m

• The U.S. Supreme Court announced it will hear two major cases challenging state laws that ban transgender athletes from participating on women’s sports teams, specifically reviewing bans enacted in Idaho and West Virginia…the justices will consider whether such state restrictions are constitutional and whether Title IX requires schools to allow transgender students to compete in sports aligning with their gender identity…read more here

• The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has placed 139 employees on administrative leave after they signed a public “declaration of dissent” criticizing the agency’s policies under the Trump administration

• Senator Lummis (R-WY) has introduced legislation to eliminate taxes on cryptocurrency transactions below $300

• Gas prices for the Fourth of July 2025 have dropped to the lowest level for the holiday since 2021

• The U.S. economy added 147,000 jobs in June, above expectations of 110,000…the unemployment rate came in at 4.1%, below expectations of 4.3%

• DOW up .77% / S&P up .83%
