What happened today 🇺🇸,

• The average U.S. gasoline price has dropped to about $2.98 per gallon, its lowest level since 2020

• The U.S. and Australia have signed a critical minerals agreement valued at up to $8.5 billion to secure and expand supply chains for rare earth and critical minerals, both countries will invest over $3 billion in collaborative mining and processing projects during the next six months

• The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled 2-1 that President Trump can deploy National Guard troops to Portland, Oregon, overturning a lower court's temporary order that blocked the deployment…read more here 

• President Trump said that Chinese President Xi Jinping has invited him to visit China and he plans to go there “fairly early next year” following their upcoming meeting at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit in South Korea at the end of October

• Former FBI Director, James Comey, has formally asked a federal judge to dismiss the criminal charges against him, arguing that the prosecution is politically motivated and that the appointment of the lead prosecutor, Lindsey Halligan, was unlawful

• A Harvard, Brown, and UCLA study of nearly 1,400 U.S. tech professionals found that many were willing to accept 25% lower salaries for hybrid or fully remote jobs, much higher than the roughly 10% pay cut seen in earlier surveys

• Amazon Web Services (AWS) experienced a significant outage causing disruptions to at least 14 AWS services and affecting thousands of websites and apps globally, including major platforms like Snapchat, Venmo, Coinbase, Ring, Fortnite, and Amazon’s own retail and streaming services

• Netflix has announced a new eight-episode drama series titled "Kennedy" which explores the personal lives, romances, rivalries, and tragedies of the Kennedy family…the series is based on Fredrik Logevall’s biography "JFK: Coming of Age in the American Century, 1917-1956"

• DOW up 1.12% / S&P up 1.07%

• The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas faces challenges after recent clashes in the Rafah area where Israeli forces reported attacks by Hamas militants, Israel then responded with airstrikes killing Palestinians and suspending humanitarian aid…both Israel and Hamas accuse each other of violating the truce, but despite these tensions both sides say they remain committed to the ceasefire…U.S. diplomats are increasing efforts to preserve the peace
