• ICE agents are being and have been deployed to major U.S. airports to assist TSA with non-screening tasks like ID checks and exit monitoring amid staffing shortages from the ongoing DHS shutdown

• President Trump announced a five-day pause on U.S. strikes against Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure, citing "very good and productive" talks, while Iran denied any direct or indirect talks were taking place…Trump’s envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, reportedly spoke with a senior Iranian official, with potential deal terms emerging around de-escalation and the Strait of Hormuz…meanwhile Turkey, Egypt, and Pakistan have reportedly facilitated message-passing between the U.S. and Iran in an attempt to reduce tensions

• The Trump administration agreed to reimburse the French energy company, TotalEnergies, nearly $1 billion for canceling two offshore wind leases off New York and North Carolina…in return, TotalEnergies will invest the funds in U.S. fossil fuels

• An Air Canada Express jet collided with a Port Authority fire truck on LaGuardia Airport's runway late last night, killing the pilot and co-pilot and injuring over 40 other people

• Kalshi is implementing new restrictions to block athletes, coaches, officials, and political candidates from trading on prediction markets related to their own sports events or campaigns, aiming to curb insider trading risks

• Spotify has laid off 15 employees, representing about 3% of its podcasting staff across The Ringer and Spotify Studios

• Elon Musk announced that SpaceX and Tesla will build two advanced chip factories in Austin, Texas, as part of the "Terafab" project, one will produce chips for Tesla vehicles and Optimus robots, while the other targets space-hardened processors for AI data centers and satellites

• Toyota announced a roughly $1 billion investment across its U.S. plants in Kentucky and Indiana, targeting hybrid engine production and facility upgrades as part of a $10 billion domestic commitment over five years
