• The U.S. Supreme Court has declined to revisit or overturn its landmark 2015 ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges, which legalized same-sex marriage nationwide…the court rejected an appeal from Kim Davis, a former Kentucky county clerk who refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples on religious grounds

• President Trump announced his plan to pay a "tariff dividend" of $2,000 per person, funded by revenue generated from tariffs…the dividend is intended for most Americans except for high-income individuals…details about eligibility, distribution methods, and timing are still unclear

• Ghislaine Maxwell, convicted for her role in Jeffrey Epstein's sex trafficking ring and currently serving a 20-year sentence, is reportedly preparing to request a commutation of her sentence from President Trump, according to whistleblower documents shared with House Democrats…the documents allege she is receiving preferential treatment in prison, including "concierge-style" privileges, and that the prison warden is assisting her in preparing the commutation application

• President Trump issued pardons to Rudy Giuliani and over 70 other individuals involved in efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election

• The U.S. military struck two more alleged drug-trafficking boats in international waters in the eastern Pacific, killing six people

• Syrian President, Ahmed al-Sharaa, visited the White House today marking the first visit by a Syrian head of state since Syria's independence in 1946…Al-Sharaa, a former jihadist and leader of the rebel coalition that overthrew Bashar al-Assad, met with President Trump to discuss Syria joining the U.S.-led coalition against ISIS, the lifting of economic sanctions, and potential security arrangements

• President Trump took to social media and ordered all air traffic controllers to get back to work amid widespread flight delays caused by staffing shortages during the government shutdown…Trump also said he would recommend a $10,000 bonus for controllers who did not take any time off during the shutdown…read more here 

• Warren Buffett has announced he is "going quiet" in the sense that he is retiring as CEO of Berkshire Hathaway at the end of 2025 and will no longer be writing Berkshire’s annual report or talking at the annual meeting

• Apple has reportedly delayed the release of the next-generation iPhone Air, which was initially scheduled to launch in fall 2026

• DOW up .81% / S&P up 1.54%
