🗞️Judge halts the attempt to close the Education Department

What happened today 🇺🇸,

  • Federal judge, Myong Joun, has blocked the Trump administration from dismantling the Department of Education…the judge also issued an order to reinstate fired employees and ruled that the department cannot be shut down or have its functions transferred without congressional approval

  • The Trump administration has revoked Harvard University's ability to enroll international students, accusing the University of campus safety concerns, antisemitism, and collaboration with the Chinese Communist Party…Harvard condemned the move as retaliatory and unlawful

  • Late last night two Israeli Embassy staff members, Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim, were shot and killed outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., as they left a Jewish event…the suspect, 30-year-old Elias Rodriguez from Chicago, was arrested at the scene and has since been charged with murder

  • The House of Representatives narrowly passed the tax and spending bill called the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, in a 215-214 vote…the bill will now move to the Senate

  • President Trump’s "gold card" website which will allow people to buy U.S. permanent residency for $5 million will launch within a week

  • The Treasury Department plans to stop creating and putting new pennies into circulation by early 2026… a penny currently costs 4 cents to make and the government estimates that cutting production is set to save $56 million per year

  • Microsoft has fired employee, Joe Lopez, after he interrupted CEO Satya Nadella’s keynote at the Build 2025 developer conference to protest the company’s contracts and technology support for the Israeli military

  • U.S. existing-home sales fell 0.5% in April to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4.00 million units, the slowest pace for the month of April since 2009…sales are down 2% from last April

  • The price of Bitcoin reached a new all-time high again today of $111,977

  • DOW was flat on the day / S&P down .04%

  • North Korea’s newest 5,000-ton naval destroyer suffered severe damage during its launch ceremony attended by Kim Jong Un, when a flaw in the launching mechanism caused the ship to slide prematurely into the water leaving it capsized on its side…Kim condemned the incident as a “criminal act” caused by negligence and irresponsibility
