What happened today 🇺🇸,

• Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu met with President Trump at the White House, it was the second visit between them since Trump’s inauguration in January…they discussed trade and the ongoing war with Hamas

• President Trump would veto legislation that would limit the president's authority to unilaterally impose tariffs

• Treasury Secretary Bessent said that about 70 countries have reached out to the Trump Administration to negotiate new trade deals…one being Japan who Trump said is sending a team to Washington D.C. to speak about trade

• The U.S. Supreme Court has temporarily paused a court-imposed midnight deadline to return to the U.S. the man who was mistakenly deported to El Salvador

• The carmaker of Jaguar and Land Rover is temporarily pausing shipments to the U.S. due to tariffs

• Microsoft fired two software engineers who protested at company events last week over the Israeli military’s use of Microsoft’s AI products

• Spirit Airlines CEO, Ted Christie, has resigned…a group the company’s executives including CFO Fred Cromer, COO John Bendoraitis, and General Counsel Thomas Canfield will lead the company until a new CEO is found

• The Federal Reserve had a closed board meeting today…the announcement caused speculation with many pundits predicting an emergency interest rate cut or at least a lowering of rates later at some point this year due to the impacts of President Trump’s global tariffs

• The price of Bitcoin fell below $75,000 today, the lowest it has been since November of 2024…at the time of writing this the price got back up to over $78,000

• DOW down .91% / S&P down .23%

• European Commission President von der Leyen says the European Union is ready to negotiate with the U.S. on tariffs and hope to reach a “zero-for-zero” tariff pact…The European Union also proposed 25% counter-tariffs on some U.S. imports to take effect beginning on May 16th
