What happened today 🇺🇸,

• U.S. and Iranian negotiators are expected to return to Pakistan this weekend, likely on Sunday, for a second round of peace talks aimed at extending the ceasefire and establishing a broader deal, President Trump said today that a deal is close and it could be finalized “in the next day or two”

• Axios reported that U.S. and Iranian negotiators were working on a deal under which Iran would ship out its stockpile of highly enriched uranium and accept long‑term nuclear limits in exchange for access to roughly $20 billion in frozen funds…later in the day President Trump publicly stated that any emerging deal involves Iran suspending its nuclear program indefinitely which he claims Iran has agreed to with no unfreezing of Iranian funds and “no money” changing hands

• The U.S. and Iran both said that the Strait of Hormuz is fully open to commercial shipping for the duration of the Lebanon ceasefire

• President Trump announced on social media that Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a ceasefire and stating “Israel will not be bombing Lebanon any longer” and that they are “prohibited” from doing so by the U.S., despite the truce, Israel later today launched reported drone strikes in the south Lebanon that killed at least one person on a motorcycle

• Democrat Analilia Mejia has won the special election for New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District, filling the U.S. House seat vacated by Governor Mikie Sherrill

• The acting head of ICE, Todd Lyons, is planning to leave the agency later this spring, with his last day set for May 31st

• Gatorade is removing artificial colors from three of its top Thirst Quencher and Gatorade Zero flavors as part of a broader brand refresh aimed at positioning Gatorade beyond just sports performance

• Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei met White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles today, in an effort to ease tensions with the Trump administration after a dispute over Pentagon limits on Anthropic’s AI models

• Anthropic has launched Claude Design, its first built-in AI design tool, which lets users turn text prompts into polished visuals like slide decks, app mockups, and social posts without needing traditional design skills

• The average federal tax refund so far this season is about 11.2% higher than at this point in 2025
