What happened today 🇺🇸,

  • President Trump signed an executive order renaming the Department of Defense as the Department of War, restoring its historic name used until the late 1940s… the order designates "Department of War" as a secondary title, authorizes Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to use titles like "Secretary of War", and instructs him to pursue legislative and executive actions to make the name change permanent

  • Federal immigration authorities conducted an immigration raid at a Hyundai electric vehicle manufacturing and battery plant construction site in Ellabell, Georgia and arrested approximately 475 undocumented individuals

  • Health and Human Services Secretary, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., is expected to release a report linking the use of Tylenol (acetaminophen) during pregnancy to an increased risk of autism in children

  • Starbucks is investing around $150,000 per store to renovate 1,000 U.S. locations by the end of 2026, adding cozier seating, softer lighting, premium finishes, and more outlets to restore its community-focused “third place” identity…the upgrades aim to encourage customers to linger, foster connections, and help the chain recover from recent declines in foot traffic and sales

  • Tesla's board has proposed a $1 trillion compensation plan for CEO Elon Musk, based on the company achieving extremely ambitious milestones over the next 10 years…read more here

  • PBS is cutting about 15% of its workforce, which amounts to nearly 100 jobs, following Congress’s decision to eliminate over $1 billion in federal funding

  • A federal judge dismissed Newsmax's antitrust lawsuit against Fox News just two days after it was filed, ruling the complaint was "shotgun pleading" due to its repetitive and disorganized allegations…the judge has allowed Newsmax to refile a revised complaint by September 11th

  • The U.S. economy added 22,000 jobs in August which was below the expectations of 75,000, the unemployment rate rose to 4.3% which was expected…read more here 

  • Manufacturing jobs in the U.S. fell by 12,000 in August, continuing a downward trend with a total loss of approximately 78,000 jobs over the past year

  • DOW down .48% / S&P down .32%

  • Russian President Putin warned that any foreign troops deployed to Ukraine, particularly while the conflict is ongoing, would be considered "legitimate targets" by Russian forces…Putin made these remarks amid Western plans to send troops to Ukraine as part of postwar security guarantees
