🗞️Congress passes the Take It Down Act

What happened today 🇺🇸,

• The House of Representatives passed the Take It Down Act, which aims to protect Americans from deepfake and revenge pornography, it has already passed the Senate and will now go to President Trump’s desk to be signed into law

• President Trump marked the first 100 days of his second term with a rally in Michigan today

• This morning reports said that Amazon was planning on showing the cost that Trump’s tariffs are adding to the price of each good on their site, the White House responded calling it a "hostile and political act”… President Trump called Jeff Bezos about it and later in the day Amazon came out and said it would not happen

• Florida’s legislature passed a law banning fluoride in drinking water, per Bloomberg

• Novo Nordisk will expand access to its weight loss drug, Wegovy, by partnering with telehealth providers Hims & Hers Health, Ro, and LifeMD, now that the medication is no longer in short supply in the U.S.

• UPS said it will cut 20,000 jobs (about 4% of its workforce) and close 73 facilities this year amidst economic uncertainties

• Meta has launched a standalone mobile app called Meta AI to compete with ChatGPT

• Duolingo, the language learning app and website, has announced they will adopt an “AI first” strategy and eliminate contract workers where possible

• President Trump’s first 100 days in office have been the worst start for the stock market at the beginning of a presidential term since President Nixon in 1973, with the S&P 500 falling 7.9% from Inauguration Day on January 20th

• DOW up .75% / S&P up .58%

• Mark Carney, the Liberal Party candidate, has won the Canadian election and has been elected as Prime Minister

• The power in Spain and Portugal has been largely restored, however the causes of the blackout remain unknown
